There’s some great news for DC fans everywhere today as Titans, the gritty television show about DC Comic’s foremost superhero sidekicks, announced the casting of Savannah Welch as Barbara Gordon for the upcoming third season.
As the daughter of former commissioner Jim Gordon and occasional member/ally of the Bat family, Barbara Gordon is a fan favorite with a rich and complex history that could deliver some great moments on the show.
This casting choice also serves as an indicator of which iteration of Barbara Gordon fans are likely to see as Welch (Boyhood, Tree of Life) is an amputee and spokesperson for the disabled having lost one of her legs after a 2016 accident. Her most recent role was in Six, a military drama from the History Channel in which she plays Dawn, a marine who lost her legs in battle.
Season three will bring dramatic changes on screen as Curran Walters’ Jason Todd/Robin is reportedly set to deliver the first live action version of Red Hood. We’ve also seen images of the show’s Senegalese star Anna Diop’s new look as Starfire.
Additional new characters that will be joining the show this season include the as-yet-uncast Jonathan Crane/Scarecrow and Roy Harper/Red Arrow.
The former DC Universe show is also undergoing production changes behind the scenes as the new season to be aired on HBO Max will shot in San Francisco.
Here is the official synopsis for Titans season three:
