Mass Effect: Legendary Edition Release Date Possibly Revealed

The upcoming Mass Effect: Legendary Edition, which involves a set of remasters of the original three Mass Effect games, is seemingly preparing for launch in March, 2021.

Though neither EA nor BioWare have published an official Mass Effect: Legendary Edition release date (the best we have is ‘Spring 2021’), retail listings from Singapore retailer Shopitree and Indonesian retailer GSShop suggest the game will launch on March 12.

The Legendary Edition announcement came alongside another Mass Effect development, the official word that Mass Effect 4 is in development. EA and BioWare also showed a teaser-trailer at The Game Awards, with a character speculated to be Liara T’Soni picking up an N7 Armor fragment.

As the studio previously noted, this project is early in development and will probably come sometime after the next Dragon Age.

We’re yet to see how much of a remaster the Legendary Edition will be but hopefully an impending release date announcement means we’ll get our first look at gameplay very soon.

BioWare announced that Mass Effect: Legendary Edition will include single-player content and DLC from the entire trilogy of sci-fi RPGs – collecting every playable moment from Mass Effect, Mass Effect 2, and Mass Effect 3. Additionally, all promo weapons, armors, and packs will be included, with all the game’s content optimized for 4k Ultra HD.

That game’s release date lines up with EA’s nice and vague ‘spring’ window, but until we actually hear something official from the developers, we shouldn’t get our hopes too high.

And if you need even more proof that this information should be true, Eurogamer has gone on to verify that the date is likely accurate. According to the publication’s latest report, March 12 should be the official launch date of Mass Effect: Legendary Edition as long as the game isn’t delayed internally any longer.

If March 12 does end up being the official date, then we should likely hear something from Electronic Arts or BioWare quite soon given that March is only two months away. Fans can probably expect that more information and possibly gameplay showing off the Legendary Edition in action will begin to arrive in the near future alongside a formal release announcement.

The game is due to launch on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC, with forwarding compatibility and targeted enhancements on the latest consoles like the Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
