Meet the Members of Doom Patrol

DC Universe continues to grow its live-action lineup of superhero shows and today announced a premiere date for Doom Patrol. After releasing a holiday-themed teaser trailer, the streaming service gave fans a closer look at each of the members through individual posters.

Doom Patrol is a re-imagining of a group of DC’s outcast superheroes. The show stars Matt Bomer as Larry Trainor/Negative Man, Brendan Fraser as Cliff Steele/Robotman, April Bowlby as Elasti-Woman, Diane Guerrero as Crazy Jane, Joivan Wade as Victor Stone/Cyborg and Timothy Dalton as Dr. Niles Caulder/The Chief.

Each member of the team has suffered some horrible accident that scarred or disfigured them while simultaneously giving them superhuman abilities. Traumatized and downtrodden, the team finds purpose through Dr Caulder/The Chief, who rescued them and brought them together to investigate the weirdest phenomena in existence — and to protect Earth from what they find.

Part support group, part superhero team, the Doom Patrol is a band of super-powered freaks who fight for a world that wants nothing to do with them. Picking up after the events of Titans, Doom Patrol will find these reluctant heroes in a place they never expected to be, called to action by none other than Cyborg, who comes to them with a mission hard to refuse, but with a warning that is hard to ignore: their lives will never, ever be the same.

The second live-action DC Universe Original Series, Doom Patrol, premieres February 15, 2019 only on DC Universe. Check out the team character posters below.

Brendan Fraser plays Cliff Steele, a former race car driver whose brain was saved by Dr Caulder and placed in a powerful robot form after he was in a horrific accident that destroyed his body. FraseDr will provide the voice of Robotman and will only appear as Cliff Steele in flashback scenes. Riley Shanahan will provide the physical performance of the character in full body costume.

Diane Guerrero (Orange is the New Black) has been cast as Crazy Jane, a hero suffering from a severe case of multiple personality disorder. Because her 64 distinct personas manifest a different super power, she is arguably Doom Patrol’s most powerful member.

Having once been rumored to have been the frontrunner for the role of Superman/Clark Kent in the past, Matthew Bomer finally makes his DC superhero bow as Negative Man – a former test pilot who was exposed to cosmic radiation that left him radioactive and with transparent skin. Dr Caulder gave him a new lease on life with specially treated bandages that block the radiation and allow him to interact with others.

April Bowlby plays Rita Farr/Elasti-Woman, an actress whose body was damaged by exposure to toxic gas leaving her with the ability to expand or shrink her body at will. Elasti-girl, her original comic-book name, is a little more popular as a Disney property now and clearly is a fight DC is unwilling to try and win.

Though the rest of the team made their live-action debuts in Titans, Cyborg has been on screen much earlier than that in the CW show Smallville and more recently in the Warner Bros movie Justice League. Joivan Wade (The First Purge) takes up the metal mantle of Vic Stone, the half-human, half-machine superhero known as Cyborg. Vic has the ability to connect to every computer on earth through his cybernetic body and uses his powers as a hero for the digital age.

One-time James Bond Timothy Dalton (The Living Daylights and License to Kill) plays Dr. Caulder/The Chief. The founder and mentor of the Doom Patrol, is a brilliant if eccentric scientist who searches the world for unfortunate souls on the edge of death in need of medical miracle. A secretive man, the brilliant but controversial Dr. Caulder will stop at nothing to help those he believes are in need, including his collection of strange heroes known as The Doom Patrol.
