Independent Comics Round Up for: 10th October 2018

Birthright#32, Writer: Joshua Williamson, Artist: Andrei Bresson

Another great issue from this creative team who keep churning them out. This time we see more of what is happening to Brennan and his captor and it does not portend well for the future.

Mikey is also facing an important decision which is to be done with all of this once he has saved his brother.

It is really interesting to see a hero deciding to abandon his life long quest when he realizes the cost it has had and the potential future cost it may still demand, I hope they do not hand wave this away and play it straight.

I will not drone on too long about this, the quality of this book stands out and has been consistent since the first issue. One of the best books out there right now.

Kickass #8, Writer: Steve Niles Artist: Marcelo Frusin

I have been enjoying this new version of Kick Ass and it is nice to see other creators playing with the characters Mark Miller created.

This issue we see Patience escape a trap but there may be a larger danger awaiting her in the form of her sister’s husband who is about to wake up from the coma that she put him in. If he wakes will he spill her secret identity to his wife?

Should Patience hope he survives for her sister’s sake or that he dies for her sake? What a dilemma, I can’t wait to see it play out either way.

I am not quite a fan of the artwork but the writing is strong enough to overcome that weakness.
