Comic Review: The Wildstorm (2018) #16

Writer: Warren Ellis
Artist: Jon Davis-Hunt
Publisher: DC Comics
Release Date: August 15, 2018

This is simply a terrific issue in what is an awesome series, this book is currently one of the best books out there.

For anyone not following this series it is basically a reboot of the Wildstorm universe especially the comic called The Authority,

Warren Ellis used to write this book back in the mid-90’s I believe and it was a massive hit back then and I was worried about him spoiling my memory of that comic, silly me. Here he is taking his time to rebuild the world of the Authority and it is just a joy to read and watch a master at work.

In this issue the newly empowered Engineer who is starting to get a hang of her new abilities interacts with one of the century babies called Jenny Sparks. A big chunk of this issue is just The Engineer talking with Jenny and even them just talking is all kinds of awesome, I really need to stop using the word awesome!

Warren Ellis is simply a god when it comes to writing and i cannot hail him enough for his past works but he is crafting a great new tale in this comic.

I love the clear precise art of John Davis-Hunt, he has a style that reminds me of John Cassaday which in turns makes this comic very reminiscent of Planetary one of Ellis’ best work.

The writing and the art simply elevate this book above most of the other fare currently being published. I heartily recommend this book to anyone.
