Comic-Con 2018 has kicked off and first up we have the first for the all-new, live-action, DC Universe original series Titans. There’s only one way to describe this – These are not your dad’s Teen Titans and they are not playing around.
The DC Universe is a streaming service without the sensibilities and constraints of network TV. The shows producers clearly planned for Titans to fit into the Snyder DC era because this trailer is so so dark. The teaser trailer below features some gritty fight scenes and Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) takes no prisoners and has no qualms permanently putting down bad guys. When questioned about this departure from Batman’s code – by a bad guy no less – he simply says “F*** Batman!”
Mic drop… right next to my jaw!
Warning, this trailer is for MATURE AUDIENCES.
Fans of the darker, grittier DC will not be disappointed. On the other hand, anyone who expected this to be anything like the fun Teen Titans a new generation of young fans know and love on Cartoon Network’s “Teen Titans Go!,” will be sorely disappointed.
The trailer shows Dick Grayson as a police officer and also gives us a look at the rest of the Titans, including Raven (Teagan Croft), Beast Boy (Ryan Potter), and Starfire (Anna Diop). In addition, Hawk (Alan Ritchson) and Dove (Minka Kelly) get into a brawl midway through the trailer.
For anyone worried about those set-photos of Starfire and Beast Boy’s looks, it looks like visual effects may go some way to convincing us of Starfire’s alien look and Beast Boy’s green hue. There is still no announcement about the series launch date, but expectations point to sometime this fall. DC has announced pricing for its streaming app on the official DC Universe website. Fans can pay an annual fee of $74.99, or $7.99 monthly.
