The Predator Trailer… first look at a Super Predator!

For whatever reason, I keep running into Sterling K Brown this week. And having avoided all news of the Shane Black entry in the Predator franchise, I had no clue he was in the upcoming predator sequel (Reboot? Remake? Ahhh who cares!).

The Predator trailer looks good and delivers just the right balance of intrigue and action for classic Predator fans like me. A few of the usual Predator movie tropes are in it: the capable and stoic leader, the jovial camaraderie of a military team doomed to gory deaths and the sympathetic female everywoman caught in the middle.

Unusually, we see a captured predator in a government facility. Brown’s spook seems to be the designated expositor and not too subtly alerts us that we should not underestimate the captured alien by alluding to their space conquering past. Rightly so too since it escapes soon after and proves to be as deadly as ever.

Most interestingly, this trailer introduces the huge, super-powered, DNA-altered super-predators – like the others weren’t intimidating enough. We’re going to need a bigger, um, predator killer?

Enjoy the trailer!

SYNOPSIS

From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home in Shane Black’s explosive reinvention of the Predator series. Now, the universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a young boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and a disgruntled science teacher can prevent the end of the human race.

The Predator cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, Keegan-Michael Key, Olivia Munn, Sterling K. Brown, Alfie Allen, Thomas Jane, Augusto Aguilera, Jake Busey, and Yvonne Strahovski.
